TEAM UPDATES

Events  /  11th February 2026

It’s been a busy season for the LBx family, with our team members stepping into exciting spaces across the industry.

Bramwel Iro – Why Freedom? Reader

Our co-founder and CEO, Bramwel Iro, joined a distinguished panel of filmmakers and industry leaders as a reader for Why Freedom? (Africa Edition).

This initiative, a collaboration between Docubox and The Why Foundation, invited filmmakers from across the continent to pitch short documentaries exploring freedom in its many forms. Bramwel was part of the panel helping to review submissions and shape the selection process for the upcoming films.

Chloe Genga - Mostra Festival, Brazil & Jury Member, The Annual Film Mischief

Our Head of Impact & Distribution, Chloe Genga, traveled to Salvador, Bahia this month to take part in the Brazil–Africa Audiovisual Meetings at the Mostra FestivalAs part of an international Think Tank, she shared insights on film distribution, impact-driven strategies, and transatlantic networks, conversations that continue to inspire how we think about getting African films to audiences everywhere.

Chloe was also selected as a juror for The Annual Film Mischief 2025, joining a stellar panel to celebrate bold and original African filmmakers across Accra, Lagos, Nairobi, and Dar es Salaam. Reflecting on her role, Chloe shared:

“It’s a privilege to be part of this initiative where films from across the continent are not merely screened; they speak. They speak of memory, resistance, joy, and the quiet power of reclaiming our identity as Africans on our own terms.”

Looking Ahead – Film as a Business

From 29th September to 10th October, Bramwel will lead the Filmmaking as a Business Creative Producers Workshop with Some Fine Day Pix, while our co-founder Sam Soko appeared on NTV’s Fixing the Nation to discuss the Kenyan film industry. Both are timely conversations that highlight the importance of thinking about film not just as art, but also as a sustainable business.

Together, these updates reflect how our team is not only creating but also contributing to shaping the future of African cinema
