We’re excited to share that Sam Soko has been selected as a judge for the 2025 Whickers Awards!

He will join a panel of experts, including Jane Mote (Consultant Editor, The Whickers), Raul Niño Zambrano (Creative Director, Sheffield DocFest), David Green (British film and TV director), Fozia Khan (Head of Unscripted at Amazon Studios UK), and Oli Harbottle (Chief Content Officer at Dogwoof).

Each of these esteemed judges brings invaluable experience across various aspects of the documentary journey, from funding and commissioning to production, sales, and distribution.

The Whickers Awards hold a special place in our hearts, as No Simple Way Home, directed by Akuol de Mabior and produced by Sam Soko, won the award in 2020. This support played a vital role in bringing the film to life and enabling it to reach audiences worldwide.

The 2025 Whickers Pitch will take place at Sheffield DocFest on Sunday, 22nd June, with the five finalists being announced in mid-April.
