This week marked a truly unforgettable milestone for us as Matabeleland had its world premiere at CPH:DOX! It was an incredible experience to finally share this deeply personal story with the world, and the energy in the room was nothing short of amazing.

We had a full house audience, and seeing them connect so deeply with the film was both humbling and heartwarming. Following the screening, director Nyasha Kadandara joined cast member Shari Eppel on stage for a powerful talk reflecting on Zimbabwe’s past, the legacy of Robert Mugabe, and the enduring impact of the Gukurahundi massacre. It was a conversation filled with reflection, honesty, and hope, beautifully moderated by Professor Amanda Hammar.

We couldn’t be prouder of Nyasha for her dedication to this story and for bringing to life a film that challenges perspectives and starts important conversations. It was an honor to see Matabeleland take its first steps into the world, and we are truly grateful to everyone who came out to support the film.
