In July, members of the LBx team had the honour of taking part in the 2025 Docubox Story Lab , the biggest one yet!

This year’s lab brought together filmmakers, mentors, and creatives from across Eastern and Central Africa, including Kenya, Ethiopia, the DRC, Rwanda, Cape Verde, and Tanzania.

From immersive storytelling sessions to late-night idea exchanges, the labs created space for vulnerability, vision, and deep craft. We’re especially proud that LBx was part of this year’s program not just as participants, but also as collaborators.

Sam Soko and Jordan Inaan served as mentors for the Post-Production and Editing Lab, supporting films at a critical stage of shaping and refining their stories.

We’re grateful to the entire Docubox team for creating a space where bold ideas and brave storytellers can thrive  and for continuing to nurture a powerful community of African filmmakers year after year.
