This month we had the joy of attending the launch of African Film Press at Unseen Nairobi. The initiative brings together three powerful platforms: Akoroko, Sinema Focus, and What Kept Me Up to form an alliance of African media voices dedicated to tracking screen industries across the continent and its diaspora.
Each platform brings its own strength: Akoroko with its research-driven analysis of film industries and funding ecosystems, Sinema Focus with its sharp coverage of East African film, TV and theatre, and What Kept Me Up with its spotlight on contemporary Nigerian cinema and emerging voices. Together, they create an exciting hub for reflection, critique, and conversation around African film.
We were glad to be part of the Nairobi launch, to witness this milestone, and to celebrate the vision behind it.
Here’s to African Film Press shaping the dialogue and strengthening the African film ecosystem.
